Salonology were founded seven years ago by husband and wife team Hollie and Ryan Power and as salon owners ourselves for over a decade we understand the impact that winning awards can have on salons, salon owners, their staff and their clients.

Many salon owners struggle to find the confidence to put themselves forward for awards and we want to put this right once and for all.

Salonology is a community coaching brand which focusses on marketing, motivation and mindset, combining these elements to help salon owners to make the most of their businesses, serve their clients at the highest possible level and to help them deliver the life of their dreams.

It can be so lonely as a business owner – whether you have a team or otherwise – and we aim to provide a role as salon cheerleaders as well as providing insights to help salon owners grow.

Our Salonology Superstars Facebook group has grown to over 5,000 UK salon owners and our aim is to make it not only the most positive group around but also the most insightful – whilst also providing a safe space to share ideas.

The last twelve months have shown us that it’s more important that ever to forge stronger relationships with those who share a similar vision which is why we’re so thrilled to be working alongside the British Hair and Beauty Awards.

Whilst our industry has in many ways been through the proverbial rinser over the last year we know that the next twelve months will be a boom period with people flocking back to enjoy the treatments they love and be in their safe spaces again.

The impact our industry has on the mental wellbeing of the public cannot be overstated and is another reason why salons warrant their time in the spotlight and the adulation they truly deserve.

Who Are We?

Top Rated Salons and Spas is one of  the UK’s independent salon and spa schemes for assessing professional standards and services within the hairdressing and beauty industries.

What Do you Have to Do?

Spas, Salons and Hairdressers have to submit a portfolio of evidence and videos. These are then objectively assessed by our professional independent trained inspectors against a set of strict criteria. In the same way as the well-known RAC or AA hotel guides.

How Does This Help You?

Unfortunately in the UK and Northern Ireland nearly anyone can open a salon or spa with little to no experience. Joining Top Rated Salons and Spas will show potential clients that they are in professional and qualified hands.


Vspa Spa and Beauty Training Academy

We offer a wide range of intensive courses which are innovative and current with beauty and holistic industry standards. Students will learn all aspects of theory and practical work needed to competently carry out treatments.

Training is available on a 1 to 1 basis or in small groups

Our Courses are designed to meet individual learning needs and learners are trained to exemplary standards in this dynamic industry. All our staff are highly experienced and work in the industry as both further education lecturers and therapists.

On completion of our courses you will be awarded a Vspa Spa and Beauty Academy Accredited Certificate in your chosen subject enabling you to gain insurance. We offer ongoing support and advice whenever needed.




Carey Faulkner – Founder of Boost My Salon

A hairdresser, photographer, hair salon owner of an award winning salon, business consultant & finalist of best marketing at the HJ British Hairdressing Business awards 2016. With over 30 years experience in the Hair & beauty Industry, Carey is passionate about helping hair & beauty salons grow through education, quality service, marketing & differentiation.

It was 3 years ago that I decided to move away from the salon floor doing hair and changed my approach to becoming a marketer of my salon business and effectively became the marketing manager. Since focusing completely on marketing, the salon quickly grew in client numbers, referrals, average bill and ultimately more sales and profit.

To focus entirely on marketing is a luxury most salon owners can’t afford to do as they are the ones busy mostly doing hair or beauty. The challenge for busy salon owners is finding the time to focus on the business and all the important aspects that come with running a salon, such as marketing. Large companies have the luxury of marketing departments and personal to purely focus on marketing their companies. This doesn’t apply to salons apart from the salon groups and larger salons that can afford to do so.

As a salon business consultant visiting hundreds of salons over the last 10 years, empathising with the challenges salon owners have I knew an opportunity arose with sharing all the elements of successful marketing and best business practise and systems that has helped other salons and my own salon to grow.

Sophie has been in the industry for over 18 years, starting her career at the prestigious Ragdale Hall Health Hydro. Ten years at Ragdale has given Sophie a well-rounded knowledge of the Spa industry, she has watched it evolve and grow.

Sophie has trained and worked with some of the UK Top brands such as Clarins, Decelor, Elemis, IIAA and many more.

Having worked for IIAA for 3 years this gave Sophie a knowledge of varied Salon, clinic and Spa businesses to really understand our expansive industry. Leading her to open her own salon in 2015.

The opening of Sophie’s salon, brought her back to Spa Find as this was her go to brand to stock and from there Sophie joined the Finders Family as the southern BDM looking after and growing the Salons and Spas in this vast area.
